INTRODUCTION TO THE WOOD WORKSHOP

Under the guidance of our experienced teacher, our very popular introductory series covers a range
of woodworking equipment found in our wood workshop. It's suitable for beginners or anyone wishing to
upskill and gain confidence, particularly in power-tools and machinery.Â
​​Each workshop session offers the chance to use different tools and machinery in a supportive, friendly setting while
doing good for the community building items to support the work of our community partner, Urban Ark - Manawa Taiao. All materials and equipment are provided.

Wk 1 - 31 Oct
Wk 2 - 7 Nov
Wk 3 - 14 Nov
Wk 4 - 21 Nov
​​Week 1. Sexy saws
includes safety, timber basics, marking and measuring, hand-saws, circular and drop sawsÂ

Week 2. Drill it
includes drills, bits and presses plus the jigsaw
Week 3. Making joints
includes chisel use and planers (hand and electric), hammer/nail gun and metal workÂ
Week 4. Screwing
includes fixings, sanding, assembly and dremels (if time)

What to expect:​

Each class is for 2.5 hrs
All workshop PPE (eye, ear, respiratory protection) will be available but you are welcome to bring your own.
Max of 6 people per workshop (minimum of 4 to run)
