INTRODUCTION TO WOODWORKING | MAKE A PLANT STAND

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Do you want to learn how to use basic woodworking tools and make a stylish plant stand? Then come to one of our workshops!

The Parramatta Women's Shed is running a series of free workshops aimed at women, to celebrate Women's Week; we'd love to see you there!

This 2-hour workshop will give women solid, practical experience in using hand and power tools - and you will go how with your very own plant stand.

You will learn how to do the following:

  • Use a handsaw & jigsaw to measure and cut material
  • Using a power drill and driver to make holes and drill in screws
  • Learn how to use a chisel and mallet to create basic joints.
  • Apply a proper finish to a product by hand sanding and/or using a power sander.

All tools and materials will be provided for all workshops.  You must wear comfortable clothing, including closed-in shoes. Long hair needs to be tied back.

It is on Wednesday, 8th March at 6:30pm. Please arrive by 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start.

This workshop is located at The Bower's Parramatta location, 1/4-14 Hunter St, Parramatta. It’s a five-minute walk from Parramatta train station, and there is limited paid street parking nearby. The Justice Precinct Carpark, accessible from Hunter Street, is located above The Bower with parking for $9 up to 3 hours.

We are also part of the Welcome Here Project, LGBTQIA+ friendly.

Light snacks will also be provided.

It is free, but registration is essential. These workshops have limited space, so book now!

During Women’s Week, we will also be collecting old mobile phones and laptops to donate to The Reconnect Project, so feel free to bring your pre-loved digital devices to the event which we will collect for donation.
