Inner Northern Youth Employment Network (INYEN) Meeting - April 28, 2026

Join us for our first Inner Northern Youth Employment Network (INYEN) meeting for 2026, proudly hosted by Sutton Tools in Thomastown on Tuesday 28 April, 10:00–11:30am.

This year, our network focus centres on strengthening connections between local industry and young people. Each meeting will highlight a key sector and explore practical pathway opportunities, while continuing to provide space to share updates, build partnerships, and improve coordination across education, employment and industry.

Industry Focus: Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering

Our first session will spotlight the advanced manufacturing sector, hosted by one of Australia’s leading manufacturers, Sutton Tools.

Advanced manufacturing is undergoing significant transformation, with growing demand for skilled workers in areas such as CNC machining, automation and engineering. While some traditional roles are changing, new opportunities are emerging, making this a critical pathway industry for young people across our region.

With major manufacturing facilities in Victoria, including Thomastown in Melbourne’s north, Sutton Tools is a strong example of local industry with global reach, exporting products internationally while supporting local jobs and skills development.

This session will provide insight into:

• The advanced manufacturing sector and its role in the local economy

• Career pathways in engineering, machining, production and trades

• Skills in demand, including precision manufacturing, CNC machining and automation

• How emerging technologies, including AI, are transforming manufacturing processes, productivity and workforce skills

• Opportunities to better connect young people with real-world pathways
