Industry Collective National Showcase | Reliability

In 1978, the Reliability-Centered Maintenance report by F. Stanley Nowlan and Howard F. Heap introduced maintenance technicians to the first iteration of the potential-failure/functional-failure (P-F) curve. The report was sponsored by the United States Department of Defense to be a roadmap for managing reliability on many different types of equipment. The initial design stood as a guide to the current versions of the curve that continue to develop and evolve in a growing desire to keep equipment running longer and cost of operation to a minimum.

The desire to keep critical equipment running has driven us to evolve the curve to encompass newer technologies with already existing best practices. Today, the most commonly accepted version is called the D-I-P-F curve as introduced by Doug Plucknette in 2006.

In today's event, we are going to gain an insight of the D-I-P-F curve and then take a look at some of the technologies that are driving reliability into the future, so if you want to increase machine-up time and quality of products, this is the event of the year.

In this workshop, we will explore the fundamentals of improving your reliability capability, through a series of presentations in a storyboard format. The presenters are part of our Industry Collective program, which brings together leading industry experts from around Australia.

Our Storyboard begins with us building the foundations through the D-I-P-F curve and progresses through to looking at some of the methodologies and technologies available to us.

Our Presenters:

For over 25 years Simon has been creating leading and coaching high-performance maintenance & reliability teams.

Simon has implemented his practical strategies in small family businesses and global corporations, from bricks to bread and everything in between.

He now speaks, trains and coaches around the world, working with organisations ready to take their maintenance, reliability, and asset management thinking to the next level.

Salah Attia is one of the few machinery diagnostics international consultants, Holding Australian citizenship, he played a critical role in each leading company he worked with in the Arabian Gulf, Egypt, and Australia.
He has more than 16 years of experience in reliability & and rotating machinery diagnostics services, troubleshooting, and condition monitoring techniques in multinational organisations.
Currently, he is acting as a Technical Director of MCS – Australia and Founder of MDI – Machinery Diagnostics Institute.
Wide experience in mechanical maintenance and machinery condition monitoring in different fields such as Cement, Steel, Power Generation, Oil and gas, Refineries, Mining, Food & and beverages … etc.

Rafe Britton, the Lubrication Expert, is known within the industry for his YouTube channel and podcast, and works with both oil manufacturers and industrial lubricant end-users to improve their equipment uptime while reducing the cost of their lubrication program. He is a mechanical engineer with 14 years of experience on both sides of the industry; both as an operator, and lubricant supplier. Rafe holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Physics from UNSW.

Rafe is a technical committee member for the Australian Lubricants Association, a Precision Lubrication Magazine editorial board member, an advisory board member of the Lubricant Expo, exam board member of the International Council of Machinery Lubrication and a technical editor of TLT, the monthly publication of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers. Rafe is ICML MLE, MLA III, MLT II, VIM and VPR certified and STLE CLS and is a Chartered Professional Engineer through Engineers Australia."

JP is the CEO of Factory AI, a company that enhances maintenance and condition monitoring by delivering faster, more accurate insights using advanced AI, sensor data, operational logs, and external data.

In his role, JP collaborates with reliability leaders, engineers, and maintenance teams to understand their machines and reliability strategy to show how AI can help prevent issues and improve planning.
