Event description

IPA Collective National Showcase | Reliability
In 1978, the Reliability-Centered Maintenance report by F. Stanley Nowlan and Howard F. Heap introduced maintenance technicians to the first iteration of the potential-failure/functional-failure (P-F) curve. The report was sponsored by the United States Department of Defense to be a roadmap for managing reliability on many different types of equipment. The initial design stood as a guide to the current versions of the curve that continue to develop and evolve in a growing desire to keep equipment running longer and cost of operation to a minimum.

The desire to keep critical equipment running has driven us to evolve the curve to encompass newer technologies with already existing best practices. Today, the most commonly accepted version is called the D-I-P-F curve as introduced by Doug Plucknette in 2006.

In today's event, we are going to gain an insight of the D-I-P-F curve and then take a look at some of the technologies that are driving reliability into the future, so if you want to increase machine-up time and quality of products, this is the event of the year.

In this workshop, we will explore the fundamentals of improving your reliability capability, through a series of presentations in a storyboard format. The presenters are part of our IPA Collective program, which brings together leading industry experts from around Australia.

Our Storyboard begins with us building the foundations through the D-I-P-F curve and progresses through to looking at some of the methodologies and technologies available to us.

Agenda:

  • 8:00 am | Registration
  • 8:15 am | Event starts
    • Acknowledgement of Country
    • Introductions
  • 8:30 am | Your Maintenance Coach
    • The D-I-P-F Curve is the building block of reliability, Simon will give us a greater understanding of how the curve works, but also bring forward some of the more critical aspects.
  • 9:15 am | Machine Consultation & Services (MCS)
    • Where does vibration analysis sit within the curve, how does it work and what can it tell us?
  • 10:00 am | Morning tea
  • 10:30 am | Ultra-Tek
    • Ultrasound has been around for many years as a reliability & fault finding technique, but are we utilising it correctly and can we get more from it?
  • 11:15 am | Lubrication Expert
    • We will gain an insight into not only best practice lubrication but also precision lubrication and how this can have a significant impact.
  • 12.00 pm | Lunch
  • 13:00 pm | Factory Ai
    • Machine learning, Industry 4.0 and Ai are now at the forefront of preventative maintenance, but what is happening in the real world?
  • 1:45 pm | Q&A Panel
  • 2:15 pm | Afternoon tea and networking
  • 3:00 pm | Close
