    Event description

This event is now SOLD OUT, but you can come along to the free demonstration projects session between 1-3pm on Friday 12 August. Contact Courtney Strow if you are interested in this via email on courtney.strow@ipswich.qld.gov.au

Ipswich City Council is excited to bring you Building Better Blocks and Neighbourhoods, a placemaking and city shaping thought leadership event with some practical hands-on experience.

As part of their Australian tour Better Block will be showcasing their innovative process to activate public spaces and bring people together. Supported by a strong line up of placemaking experts the event will inspire and energise you to think outside the box.

The placemaking movement is gaining momentum here in Queensland, so if you are wanting to expand your knowledge, learn and understand the different approaches and processes, then this is the event for you.

In addition to the learnings, there will also be opportunities to meet and network with like-minded people.

    Featuring:

    • Krista Nightengale, Better Block Texas, USA
    • Dean Cracknell, Town Team Movement, TAS / WA
    • Steven Burgess, Complete Streets, TAS
    • Brooke Williams, FourFold Studio, QLD

The event will conclude with a panel discussion with the four experts, then it’s time to translate the principles and theory learnt during the day into action with some hands-on placemaking.

Ipswich Central Revitalisation is the catalyst for this event with a focus on the businesses and local community and the journey that we have undertaken which promotes the value of placemaking.

    Who should attend?

Local and State Government, Private and public architects, placemakers, urban planners, developers, engineers, parking and traffic consultants, policy-makers, building managers, businesses, community and elected representatives.

Morning tea and lunch is included in the cost of the ticket.
