Event description

Have you ever wanted to learn how to professionally skiddaddle? Now's your chance! In honour of the longstanding solidarity between Ireland and Palestine, we'll be raising funds for four families in Palestine who have reached out in need.

Come join legendary t-boy icon Kae Woodbury (of mad lad brad fame) as they delve into their deep dark secret history as a competitive irish dancer. We'll learn the basics of how to jig, treble, and skiddaddle, culminating in (hopefully) learning a full traditional Irish set dance.

BYO wig! (non-compulsory, but could be fun...)

Tickets $20, free for First Nations folk, and additional donations also highly encouraged. Pls DM contact me if you are unable to afford a ticket but want to attend- no-one turned away for lack of funds

Further info about our ongoing mutual aid drive:

Mohamed (@mohamed_habbash8) has two children: Sama and Osama, both aged 7. Their home was destroyed by Israel early on in the genocide. Osama has a bullet lodged in his liver and has long required evacuation for medical treatment.

For now, Mohamed is seeking funds for food.

Sarah (@rasil_yahya) and her husband used to run a law firm in Gaza. Their office was destroyed by Israel's bombardments. They have two children, Rasil (3) and Yahya

(5), who have lived much of their lives under the genocide.

Sarah has been reliant on donations since her savings ran out and she is raising funds for food.

Ahmed (@hmdbwjbr.hmd_hanan) and his wife Shada have two children: Hanan (3) and Ayad (2 months). Ahmed used to work on a poultry farm, which was destroyed by Israel early on in the genocide. He is in need of funds for diapers and milk, for his newborn, and for food.

Mido (@midofamily8) studied computer engineering and graduated shortly before the genocide began. He currently supports his mother, who suffers from serious stomach problems and requires medication. He is hoping to raise funds for food.

Israel's genocide has changed register. In the same week that UNRWA declared one million children in Gaza at risk of starving, the number of Palestinians massacred while seeking aid at so-called humanitarian distribution sites reached 900.

On the same day that 19 people died of starvation in Gaza, tonnes of aid sat wasting on the other side of the border.

Donating directly will help these families safely access what resources remain in Gaza under Israel's genocidal starvation campaign; boycotting and rallying remain, as ever, crucial. Funds will be sent directly to the families on a rolling basis and receipts shared on our stories in the coming weeks.

A portion of proceeds will also be contributed to the Mutual Aid Mob Strong Fund

Event Access:

Entry to the venue has no stairs but there are minimal stairs to get to the bathrooms.

The class will involve moderate physical activity, mostly involving the legs. There will be plenty of opportunity for warm-up, stretching, and rest as needed, and I encourage everyone to go at their own pace and take extra breaks as needed.
