Description

COMING. THIS. SUMMER.

Iron Improviser returns to officially kick off the holiday season with a Big Summer Blowout.

We're turning up the summer heat on a fearless lineup of improvisers who'll be forced to swim outside the flags with only their wits, daring and each other for support. They'll create characters, scenes and stories completely from scratch in a comedy cauldron that's sure to be hotter than a Queensland footpath.

So slip on your thongs, lather yourself in SPF 50* and join us for a night of sun-soaked, sweat-inducing, totally spontaneous comedy.

There'll be big laughs, bigger risks and enough heat to make you question whether the air conditioning is actually working.

Date: 18 December 2026

Time: 7:30pm

Location: Ron Hurley Theatre, 28 Tallowwood Street, Seven Hills

Iron Improviser is an annual tradition as old as Improv Queensland itself, with the first tournament held at the end of 2004. This year marks the 22nd rendition of the longest running show of Brisbane’s longest established improv comedy group.

Improv Queensland (formerly known as ‘ImproMafia’) was founded in 2004 with the goal of spreading and celebrating the joy of improvised performance and unscripted theatre. From our humble beginnings on pub stages, we've grown to become Brisbane’s best-known improvisation company, performing locally and internationally, participating in major festivals, and providing world-class training.

We specialise in Keith Johnstone’s classic Theatresports™ format, as well as our own unique style of long-form genre plays, often featuring extravagant costumes and sets, larger-than-life characters, and inventive special effects. Our performers explore emotion, truth, and humour, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through unscripted theatre.

We live and breathe improv, and we hope this passion is reflected in the energy and enthusiasm that we bring to each and every performance and classroom.
