Isabel Rumble and Ryan Martin John
Event description
Join Australian Folk Music Award nominees Isabel Rumble (VIC) and Ryan Martin John (SA) for a cosy evening of contemporary folk songs and storytelling.
Following on from a run of sold out album launch shows across Australia, Isabel returns to Tarndanya / Adelaide to share a special set of new songs written on the road alongside audience favourites.
A new voice in Australian music, Isabel Rumble is captivating listeners around the country. Her songs offer a cocoon of reflection on the subtleties of love, longing and hope. Nominated for Folk Alliance Australia’s Contemporary Folk Album of the Year 2023, Isabel’s debut album Bird Be Brave defines a soul-stirring emerging artist. 2024 sees Isabel gearing up for new releases and a European tour.
"The light , the stars, the sky, the river, the wind, all the things that flow through her songs are filtered through her calm, gentle, peaceful voice and vision.” (Rhythms Magazine)
Melding indie-folk songwriting and textures of alt-country, Ryan Martin John is an introvert with a love for the sounds often tied with 1970s Laurel Canyon songwriters. Ryan songs are like a sun-kissed cruise through affirmations of affection, ache, and all that lies between.
His debut album 'Goodness Gracious Graceless' (released 2023) received much critical acclaim with high radio rotation as well as several nominations for Album/ Artist of the Year (Folk Alliance, SA Music Awards, Adelaide Roots & Blues Association).
If backed by his band or duo with guitarist Tom Kneebone, expect weaving decorative guitar and multi-part harmonies reminiscent of a much loved era of folk songwriters.
