    The 55th International Simulation and Gaming Association’s (ISAGA) Conference will take place from Monday-Friday, 8-12 July 2024, at the University of Canterbury, in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand.

    This year’s theme is Simulation Gaming Across Borders, which focuses on (but is not limited to) the following simulation gaming topics:

    • Approaches to design, application, interaction, and evaluation
    • Physical and digital elements, VR, AR, and MR
    • Use in novel domains, contexts, or intercultural areas
    • Briefing and instruction, facilitation, and debriefing
    • Social challenges, sustainability, peace, and inclusiveness


    The ISAGA 2024 program includes five days of keynotes, talks, and paper presentations; workshops, playtests, expert panels, and poster sessions, as well as a welcome event, social program, conference dinner, games exhibition, and tour of HIT Lab NZ.

    Founded in the 1970s, ISAGA is one of the most established communities of practice focussed on gaming and simulation. The community brings together researchers and practitioners from the fields of management, social and environmental sciences, education, planning, and technical sciences. They study the design, facilitation, evaluation protocols, and debriefing methods of gaming and simulation.
