ISPOR Australia Chapter Workshop on Real World Evidence
Event description
Recent developments in Australian data governance and accessibility, together with the upcoming Health technology assessment (HTA) review, presents an opportunity for improved integration of high-quality real-world evidence (RWE) in Australian HTA.
This workshop will give attendees an understanding for how RWE can be effectively implemented in HTA and will be a step towards achieving formal guidance from the PBAC and MSAC on the use of RWE in Australia.
PROGRAM
- Session 1 - Accessing Australian based data: The first session of the workshop will provide an overview of the current environment of public and private data collections including recent developments in availability and access to Australian data and presentations from several data custodians including the AIHW, PHRN, The Neuromuscular Disease registry and Prospection.
- Session 2 - Best practices for generating RWE: The second section will discuss recent guidelines for generating real world evidence, hear from Australian HTA representatives regarding the use of RWE in reimbursement and also gain an international perspective of recent RWE developments within the field of HTA.
- Session 3 – Applications of RWE in HTA: The final session presents case studies from academia, industry and patient advocacy groups of how Australian based observational evidence has been implemented in HTA.
A key objective of the workshop is to facilitate collaboration between Government, industry, patient advocacy groups and academia to begin the process of achieving formal guidance on the use of RWE in Australia.
Speakers include Sallie Pearson (Professor of Health Systems, member of DUSC), Fleur de Crespigny (Group Head of AIHW Data Strategies & Discovery Group), Nicole Pratt (Professor in Biostatistics & Pharmacoepidemiology, member of DUSC) Tracey Laba (Associate Professor at the University of South Australia, member of DUSC and ESC), and Ashley Jaksa (Senior Scientist at Aetion and operational lead of the ISPOR RWE Special Interest Group).
