Israel’s constitutional crisis – a turning point for the region’s future?

After months of extraordinary protests by tens of thousands across Israel, the country’s High Court will come head-to-head with the Government over several critical legislative hearings this September. Hear from Jerusalem-based educator, writer and rights advocate Rabbi Elhanan Miller about how Israeli civil society will face this latest showdown and what are the longer-term implications for all Israelis and Palestinians.

Rabbi Elhanan Miller is a research fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Rabbi Miller is the founding editor of People of the Book, an online initiative geared at teaching Jewish faith, culture and history to Muslim audiences, and active in Rabbis for Human Rights and The Forum for Regional Thinking, an Arab-Jewish think tank in Israel. An Arabic specialist, Miller regularly lectures on Middle East politics, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and Jewish-Muslim relations. 

Kim Rubenstein, lawyer, academic, author, distinguished human rights advocate, is a Professor in the Faculty of Business Government and Law at the University of Canberra. Kim is an Honorary Professor at the ANU, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. and a regular commentator in the media on citizenship and gender matters.
