    Event description

Gather your beloveds for an open mic night on Gadigal land. This one is a home for the big emotions. You are invited to bring a poem or a piece of writing or another medium entirely that you would like to be witnessed that speaks to the theme of resistance. (Performing is not a requirement of attendance, those who come only to listen are highly cherished). Resistance to… late stage capitalism… land theft… genocide… apartheid… colonisation… climate fucking… consumer culture… fast living… cis-heteronormative bullshit

The fourth issue of Riverstone was born out of the protest movement against the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza committed by Israel and supported by western nation states. The atrocities of this murder campaign, combined with institutional denial of it in tandem with aiding the efforts of the Israeli war machine by our government and many others have highlighted the longstanding need for radical resistance against the western imperialist colonial project. The solidarity between the fight towards First Nations justice, liberation, and land back in so-called Australia and the Free Palestine movement is well documented historically. Riverstone stands in unequivocal solidarity with Palestine and with First Nations folks.

The evening will be a space for the rage, for the sadness, for the confusion, for the gentle, for the not-so gentle. Bring your vulnerability and your care and your resistance. The fourth issue of Riverstone will also be launched on the night.
