IWD 2026: Reimagining Power

On March 4th, we invite you to 'Reimagine Power' and to question the models of power we have inherited, often extractive, hierarchical and patriarchal, and to imagine something different. Reimagining Power brings together five influential women from diverse backgrounds for a panel discussion on what power can look like when it is rooted in justice, care, solidarity, and shared responsibility. Drawing on lived experience, leadership, and critical insight, the discussion will explore how power can be exercised collectively and in ways that strengthen women and greater communities rather than dominate them.

Speakers include:

• Emma Bacon, Executive Director for Sweltering Cities

• Cristina Lledo Gomez, Senior Lecturer at the Australian Institute of Theological Education

• Sharon Cooke, Senior Manager for Aboriginal Education at Catholic Schools NSW

• Violet Cabral, Community Engagement Officer for the Josephite Justice Network

• Emilia Nicholas, Community Engagement Officer for the Josephite Justice Network
