IWD Lunch & Learn Special: Women In Tech - The New Era
Event description
International Women's Day Lunch & Learn: Women in Tech: The New EraÂ
Men are welcome and encouraged to attend this session.
Every year, International Women's Day brings a new theme. In 2023, it is #EmbraceEquity. What does this mean? It means equal opportunities are no longer enough. In simpler terms:
- Equality:Â everyone receives shoes
- Equity: everyone receives shoes that are the right size for them
The digital and tech industries are traditionally well-known to be male-dominated. In recent years, however, we have seen a shift in these industries to encourage more female leaders and develop and train the younger female generation into roles that were predominantly of more interest to men. Could this mark the beginning of a new era for women in tech?
Join us on IWD 2023 as we speak to women in tech to explore this concept.Â
- Knowing the difference between equality and equity and how it impacts women in tech
- Why diversity is important
- Diversity quotas: are they doing more harm than good?
- Navigating and growing a career in tech
- Lean in: what you can do to support women in tech
Men are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. We need men to enact change. Join us to hear how you can support women in tech and be our ally.
