YWCA Canberra's 2026 IWD Panel: Balance the Scales

BALANCE THE SCALES FOR EVERY GIRL AND WOMAN!

*We are sold out! Please join the waitlist and we'll get in touch with you if a spot opens up.

The 2026 International Women’s Day theme calls on us to ‘Balance the Scales’ and demand fair, inclusive and accessible justice for every girl and woman.

Even with decades of progress, barriers to justice remain. YWCA Canberra’s Domestic Violence Support Service receives on average thirty-three new referrals every month.

Meet your panel:

• Juliette Ford: ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner

• Amy Lindner, Detective A/Inspector Criminal Investigations - Family & Sexual Violence

• Jazinta George: Case Manager Domestic Violence Support Service, YWCA Canberra

• Tim Piccione: Court Reporter, The Canberra Times

• Panel facilitator: Leah Dwyer, Director of Policy & Advocacy, YWCA Canberra

They reflect the persistence of domestic and family violence, despite targeted prevention efforts, and unrelenting service demand.

Thanks to our venue sponsor, The Street Theatre, YWCA Canberra will host an IWD panel that brings together frontline service providers and women with lived experience who support those seeking safety, advocacy, and justice. Hear firsthand how they are challenging inequity, pushing for change, and helping our community balance the scales.

Stay for networking and canapés after the panel.

Free and always will be.

Please note that filming and photography will take place at YWCA Canberra's IWD 2026 event at The Street Theatre for promotional, archival, and social media purposes. Photographs and recordings captured may appear on our website and social media channels. Please let us know if you don't want to be photographed.
