International Women's Day Celebration - We Move the World
Description
On March 13, 2026, women from across the region will gather for a four-hour immersive experience unlike any traditional International Women’s Day event.
Instead of speeches and seats, we’ll fill the space with movement, rhythm, poetry, sound and art.
Guided by a circle of local artists, you'll be invited to explore what it means to be a woman in this time and place through a shared experience.
Together, we’ll create, listen, dance and make beauty - a living artwork of community, voice and embodied wisdom. What fun!
The ticket price includes a delicious morning tea from La Caseta. Based in Winchelsea, Cinthya Sabillon makes Honduran food at its tastiest. Yum!
Please note - this is a not-for-profit event. Your money covers catering, venue hire, insurance, all art materials and fair payment for the artists.
FAQs
- What will we be actually doing?
As a whole group of women, moving together, we will be gently and slowly guided to:
hear and engage with a story about the Country we live on told by a surprise guest
sing simple sounds from our hearts, led by community choir leader and singer-songwriter Tiffany Eckhardt
learn a gentle Qi Gong movement practice with Qi Gong teacher and visual artist Kirsten Penzes
carry our body work into making marks on paper with Kirsten
enjoy a delicious morning tea of Honduran street food from La Caseta in Winchelsea
move from a heart-centred place with Yael Appelboom using Open Floor techniques
draw words from this practice to create group poetry with me, Linnet Hunter - spoken word poet
sing some more - make more marks and still have time for networking!
You will not have to perform or share your feelings or anything like that!
- Will it take me outside my comfort zone?
Maybe!
Everyone's comfort zone is a different shape though, so it is a bit hard to answer this one!
The event has been designed as a whole group experience, so no-one will be put on the spot or asked to 'perform' anything. The mood will be gentle, calm and nourishing.
There will be parts where you feel utterly comfortable, and other parts where you may be trying something new, which can be uncomfortable.
All the facilitators are highly trained in creating safe spaces, and we are all respectful and mindful of the group vibe. You are in safe hands!
- Who are the artists?
Linnet Hunter (poetry, MC)
Linnet is a spoken word poet living, working and writing from Birregurra on Gulidjan Country. Her poetry explores the inner world of emotional narratives beneath the surface, their moods enhanced by the musical counterpoint of an autoharp.
Linnet’s poems are brief, mesmerising and memorable, and their presentation unique. Listeners say the experience is eloquent, evocative and exquisite -- revelatory, each piece a heartfelt note that lingers long after the performance. Linnet is the director and coach at Wild Sky Coaching, your host for this event.
Tiffany Eckhardt (singer-songwriter, music therapy)
Award-winning songwriter Tiffany Eckhardt has written and recorded 11 independent releases and has been adopted by the Australian festival circuit as a firm favourite. Her folk/roots music is inspired by nature and the human spirit and has received rave reviews and airplay across the country. Now based in Barwon Downs, Tiffany recently completed a Masters of Music Therapy at Melbourne University. She also facilitates community music projects and directs the Kindred Choir in Birregurra and Lorne.
Kirsten Penzes (Qi Gong & Making Marks)
Kirsten is an educator with a love for The Arts and Qi Gong. Kirsten has an art practice in Ceramics, Textiles, Painting and Drawing with a BA in Teaching and BA in Fine Arts. She works with NDIS artists as a studio assistant and art educator, while also volunteering as a Geelong Gallery Guide. Kirsten has personal practice in Qi Gong of five years and teaches Qi Gong at Makai studios in Point Lonsdale. Kirsten’s Qi Gong teacher is Hang Nhan with her lineage following the Lohan (Shaolin) Qi Gong and Kung Fu system at the root school of Choy Lee Fut.
Yael Appelboom (embodied movement & conscious dance)
Yael is an emerging dance facilitator and Open Floor Teacher in Training, dedicated to the transformative power of freeform movement. She has been curating conscious dance gatherings in Birregurra since 2020, creating a safe, judgment-free space for deep connection, authentic expression, and embodied awareness. With over 15 years’ experience in conscious dance modalities—including 5Rhythms, Open Floor, 360 Emergence, and Dancing Freedom—Yael’s facilitation is thoughtful and invitational, guided by universal embodiment principles and rich, immersive soundscapes. Her background in medicine, biomedical science, and music informs her holistic approach, blending scientific understanding with the intuitive wisdom of the moving body. When not dancing, Yael finds inspiration in nature, permaculture, and raising her two young children.
and a surprise guest - a local Gulidjan woman who is an author, storyteller, artist and much more.
Guided by this circle of facilitators, we’ll weave a living artwork of community, creative expression and embodied wisdom.
The vibe will be gentle, experiential, playful and nourishing. An opportunity to tune into self and connect to community. All you need is curiosity. No experience required!
- When you say no seats, what do you mean?
We will begin by being seated , but not in rows or at tables. As the morning progresses, we will move from one experience to another, some seated, some walking, some standing. This is a moving experience - but very gentle.
You are invited to bring a cushion and to take time out if you need to.
- Can I bring my kids?
Due to insurance requirements, this event is for 18+.
BUT, babes in arms are welcome.
