IWD with NTP: Join us in supporting Dress for Success

    This event has passed RSVP

    Event description

This International Women's Day NewyTechPeople, in partnership with Coded Diversity, is hosting a lunch and silent auction to raise money and supplies for Dress for Success. Dress for Sucess is an organisation committed to empowering women to achieve economic independence through support, professional attire and personal development tools, and we're delighted to be able to help this cause.

The lunch will feature the staples of ample food, drinks and networking, along with a silent auction allowing you to bid on a range of quality items (all of the proceeds from which go to Dress for Success) and a clothes drive where we'll be collecting office clothing to donate to the cause. QR codes will also be supplied on the day to allow guests to donate money to Dress for Success directly.

    The timetable:

    • 11:00 - 12:00PM: Food, drinks, networking and the silent auction
    • 12:00 - 12:30PM: Presentation from Elena Scifleet, Cyber Readiness Educator at Alpha Echo about Coercive Control, and how to stay safe and help others online.
    • 12:30 - 1:00PM: Networking and finalisation of the Silent Action

We'd love to see you there!

    FAQs

How does the silent auction work?

The silent auction works similarly to normal auctions, but at a much calmer rate. You'll have the chance to view all the items up for bid and add your bid to a bid sheet using an anonymous bidding ID (supplied as your order ID on your ticket when you RSVP) if something catches your eye. At the end of the event the auction will close, and the winners for each item will donate the corresponding amounts to Dress for Success before collection.

Where do I find my bidding ID?

Your bidding ID is the order ID that came with your ticket when you RSVPed. You'll also be provided with a nametag on the day that has your unique bidding ID on the back for easy access. If you have trouble locating your bidding ID, please talk to Sarah from NewyTechPeople on the day, and she'll be able to assist you. If you've registered for multiple people (all of whom will have the same order ID), don't worry; our team will supply unique identifiers on the backs of each nametag.

What items will be available to bid on at the silent auction?

This silent auction will offer a range of options at various price points. Items will include everything from starter indoor plant sets and hydro-grown pot plants to consulting sessions with local professionals, tickets to the /NEW conference and a signed Newcastle Knights jersey. We aim to offer something for everyone, focusing on quality and affordability. If you or your business would like to donate an item for the silent auction, please contact sarah@newytechpeople.com.au

What clothes can I donate to the clothes drive?

Dress for Success supports women getting back into and thriving in the workplace. As a result, the ideal donations are office-appropriate clothing of a suitable quality. As a rule of thumb, if you're unsure whether something is good enough to donate, think about whether you'd give it to a friend; if the answer is yes, bring it along, and if not, it's best left at home.
