    The Gap State High School P&C invites students, family members, staff and the community to join us in celebrating International Women's Day.

    Music Performances

    Item 1: Chorale – conducted by Mrs Judy Collins and accompanied by Mr Carl Bundesen. Performing – “Connected” by Brian Tate and “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman by Pasek and Paul

    Item 2: Ava Huehn – performing an original song called “Four Leaf Clovers” – guitar and voice.

    Item 3: Esther Hockey and Sarah Xu – performing “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver – guitar and voice.

    Jonty Bush

    Australian of the Year 2009
    MP for Cooper


    Jonty has a 20-year career history social policy with a focus on victims rights and community safety.

    Following the homicides of her sister and father Jonty joined the Queensland Homicide Victims’ Support Group and was quickly promoted to Chief Executive Officer making her the first CEO with lived experience.

    She was recognised nationally as the Young Australian of the Year in 2009, for her anti-violence work, which included the development of Queensland's One Punch Can Kill campaign.

    Jonty has a Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice from Griffith University. She has worked on Ministerial taskforces, was appointed to Queensland’s inaugural Sentencing Advisory Council and has continued to work and support government and community organisations with anti-violence and crime prevention strategies.

    Jonty was elected to the seat of Cooper in 2020, and is currently a member of three Parliamentary Committees: the Crime and Corruption Committee and the Legal Affairs and Safety Committee and is Deputy Chair of the Select Inquiry into Youth Justice, she is also a Temporary Speaker of the House.

    Along with her partner Matt, Jonty continues to raise her daughter and three stepdaughters.   She is a lover of the great outdoors and is regularly trekking through Brisbane’s hiking trails in addition to taking on the big walks including Kokoda and Mount Kilimanjaro. She is a humanitarian and a vegan, dedicated to making the world a better place.

    Stephanie Collins current High Performance Program Coordinator for Basketball Queensland and NBL1 player for the Brisbane Capitals. She has played professional Basketball for the past 13 years all over the world, including, representing Australia at World Championships, a scholarship holder in the U.S for 4 years and attending The Australian Institute of Sport for 3 years.

    Mini Market Details

    This year, we will also be offering a mini market (during the event). Local micro businesses founded and run by women will showcase their products, and items will be available for purchase. If you are a local business and would like to get involved email marketing@thegapshs.eq.edu.au.

    Raffles
    The Gap State High School P&C association will be running raffles on the day.  The funds raised will be supporting student activities at The Gap State High School.  There will be a range of great prizes on offer. If you wish to donate a prize please contact the P&C at president@tgshspandc.org.au.
