Iwiri Choir Performance
Event description
Join us for an unforgettable evening of art and culture at the St Peters Town Hall in celebration of NAIDOC Week. Featuring the highly regarded Iwiri Choir, the evening will include a guided tour of the 'kapi wala' exhibition, showcasing artists from Iwiri Arts and Ku Arts, and a special performance by the award winning Iwiri Choir.
The Iwiṟi choir continues the Choral tradition of the Pitjantjatjara Ernabella Choir and is one of the few choirs that perform almost exclusively in an Australian first language. The choir is multi generational, with many choir members following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents who sang in the original Ernabella choir. Choir elders consider Inma (song) to be a healing balm and an important way to fulfil family and cultural obligations to teach and strengthen the next generations.
Tickets are $25+BF and include a complimentary glass of wine and something to nibble. Hurry, tickets are limited, don't miss this unique performance!
