Event description

IXDA Brisbane is back for our last event of the year!

It feels like we are truly seeing the rise of ai and with great power, comes great responsibility. So come join us as we listen to an ai expert & prompt engineer show us the power of ai for designers and listen to what will surely be a thought provoking panel discussion.

We are very appreciative to continue our partnership with Skedulo, and would like to welcome a new sponsor to the IXDA Brisbane family, Just Digital People. Thank you for supporting our design community!

Key note speaker;

Carl Gribble; Co-Founder Dorothy ai

Carl serves as the Co-Founder & Director of Prompt Engineering at Dorothi AI, a leading Generative AI consultancy, based here in Brisbane. At Dorothi AI, Carl is dedicated to leveraging Generative AI to amplify productivity and quality of work output for knowledge workers.

Carl has developed a prompt engineering framework, that when applied to UX design and research can dramatically increase the speed of work outputs, across a number of common UX research and design tasks.

How will Generative AI transform UX research and design? In a live ChatGPT demo learn how ChatGPT can perform many UX design and research tasks across the span of a typical project. Discover use cases we can expect GPT-Vision to perform, and the impact this will have to the future of design.

Carl will also be joining our panel discussion, along with;

Morgen Carson; Consultant - Principal Product Manager & BA at Pipefish for Super Retail Group

Currently Morgen is a Consultant with an emphasis on creative problem-solving across user-focussed problems for online systems. Her expertise lies across customer research, service design & analysis, product management, project management and workshop facilitation.

She gets a buzz out of investigating problems, working out how to fix them and driving for an outcome that delivers. Morgen enjoys leveraging her technical background which involves understanding systems and process whilst working with developers and technical experts. She combines this with a passion for human-centred design where she can delve into the human side of people, their problems and their needs to connect the design and technical solutions together.

With a career spanning over 15 years, Morgen is particularly passionate about innovation and improvement across IT systems with a design thinking approach. She holds formal qualifications in IT, Design, Lean/Six Sigma, Agile and User Experience / Human-Centred Design which has led to work experience across industries such as Consulting, Mining & Metals, Aviation and Education in both the public and private sectors. Morgen has evolved her career from corporate roles into boutique consulting work which has provided an invaluable perspective and experience to partner with a variety of stakeholders.

Timothy Falchi; Director Design Strategy for Services Australia

Tim is a relentless optimist… he Believes in creating, evolving, equipping and reimagining teams to solve problems, serve others and leave a legacy.
He believes that people on the same page, with a shared agenda and aligned purpose can – and do – create impact. Combining his experience and studies in Psychology, English and Design and Theology, he brings together diverse thought to address complex challenges.

Design is messy and often unclear, so he prioritises transparency and authenticity to
establish trust, surface assumptions and dismiss ambiguities.

With over twenty years designing in education, high-performance sport and management consulting, including a decade navigating the complexities of public service he has crafted a solid story and credible practice in:

• executive alignment and strategic visioning;
• creating, cultivating and equipping design teams that align on purpose and
deliver outcomes;
• experimenting and exploring re-imagined ways of working;
• creating ideas and connecting dots

He is  always learning, always collaborating and always keen to share stories. It’s where he believe that human centred design takes shape and where people can work together to
lead and sustain change.

Kim McGuire; Lead Service Designer & Researcher at Nutrien Ag Solutions

Kim McGuire (she/her) leads the first team of Service Designers and Researchers in Australia's largest agricultural product and service provider. She is a woman in a heavily male-dominated industry, where gender roles are entrenched... but changing.

For 15 years, Kim has worked across industries with varying levels of inclusion and innovation maturity - banking, airline, retail and more - to finally land in a space where innovation and gender have become active priorities.

Without inclusion and innovation, she believes that agriculture as we know it won't survive and it forms a critical enabler, therefore, of our food supply.

(Please be advised we do not record or broadcast our events as we want to focus on building a community and bringing people together in person)

We're looking forward to more great connections, conversations and interactions so see you all there!!

Doors open at 5pm for 30 minutes of networking before the lift in the building closes at 5.30pm. We will leave a note with a number to call for anyone that arrives late and needs access.
We will then continue the conversation at the Prince Consort round the corner for some drinks and nibbles thanks to Just Digital People!
