Build strength, space and clarity from the inside out.

Hours at a desk, long drives, stress or fatigue... they all gather around the spine, creating stagnant energy. Twists and forward folds are some of the most effective ways to restore mobility, vitality, and a calm mind.

If these poses often feel uncomfortable or out of reach, this workshop will show you a new way to approach them. Through the Iyengar method’s precision and intelligent use of props, you’ll learn variations and key actions to move safely and effectively (even with tight hips and hamstrings!). Discover how to unlock more space, balance and freedom in the body.

The inner work of twists and forward folds

In the Iyengar tradition, twists are said to purify: wringing out stagnation from the organs, spine and mind. Forward extensions then quiet and integrate, turning that renewed energy inward. As we twist and fold, we learn how to steady the fluctuations of thought, cultivating patience, humility and clarity that ripple far beyond the mat.

Who is this for?

This workshop is open to all levels. Newer students will gain confidence in the Iyengar approach, while experienced practitioners can refine and deepen classical poses in ways that are not always explored in regular classes.

What to expect:

This is a focused, hands-on workshop with detailed instruction, individual adjustments, and plenty of time to explore each pose. The pace is slower than a regular class, allowing you to really understand the alignment principles that make poses effective and open the body in ways you may not have thought possible for you.

What to bring:

Please bring a mat. All other props are provided.

About the teacher:

Lou Lemaistre is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher who has been teaching yoga, leading workshops and retreats for the past 5 years. Her teaching is clear, encouraging, and detail-oriented, with a focus on making yoga both safe and deeply effective for every student.

Lou is passionate about the Iyengar method for its precision, intelligence, and use of props, which open the door to experiencing poses in their full depth. She believes that yoga is not just about flexibility or strength, but about cultivating awareness, balance, and resilience that extend far beyond the mat.
