Women Who Whiskey Los Angeles is thrilled to continue our #WomenHistoryMonth celebration with Jackson McCrea Rye Whiskey: A Black- and female-owned whiskey brand founded in Los Angeles by Sheila Jackson and Natasha McCrea. Sheila and Natasha will be joining us for a Jackson McCrea Whiskey tasting on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. at The Liberties of Dublin. We'll enjoy a pour of Jackson McCrea whiskey as well as two cocktails and a delicious grazing table provided by The Liberties of Dublin.

We are also excited to celebrate the success of a second duo of female entrepreneurs from Los Angeles! Jackson McCrea was recently selected for the Diageo-backed Distill Ventures program, which helps early-stage founders gain funding and mentorship opportunities. The program focuses on communities that have been traditionally underrepresented in the spirits world.

The Jackson McCrea partners source the finest 5-year old Rye from Tennessee, which is then rested in French oak Syrah barrels to create an ultra premium whiskey with a rich, smooth body and notes of caramel, vanilla, smoke and spice. The flavor profile was determined by the result of a survey crafted by Natasha and Sheila and distributed widely, including social media and women-focused wine and women’s whiskey organizations. The business partners, who both have a background in wine and the film industry, discovered that women who love wine often love whiskey.  The team decided on the French oak Syrah barrels because, as Jackson notes, “French oak has a tighter grain than American oak. It’s going to smooth out some of the ‘harsh edges’ of the whiskey to make it more suitable for sipping neat.
