Hampden Deli and texture present an evening of POETRY + SOUP featuring JACOB MORRIS and NICOLE SMEDE.

Come and get cozy with poetry and delicious soup and drinks with friends!

Jacob Morris is the Main Language teacher and Consultant for Gadhungal Marring. Jacob Morris created, facilitates and oversees the Gammēya-Ḏarrawal revitalisation and teaching programs offered by Gadhungal Marring. Jacob Morris specialises in creating songs and dances performed and taught by Gadhungal Marring with consultation with his Djādjālali (Brothers), Jacob is also is one of the head singers for Gadhungal marring’s dancers helping in the overseeing of krabri (Corroboree) and or performances. Jacob has over ten years of experience in the Cultural Education field starting when he was just 16yrs old. 


Nicole Smede is a multi-disciplinary artist of Warrimay/Birribay and colonial descent, living and creating on Wodi Wodi Dharawal Country. Proud of her heritage, a reconnection to ancestry, language and culture ripples through her work in voice, song, sound and poetry, exploring what it means to be ‘of Country’.

A versatile performer with experience spanning diverse genres, Nicole has performed, composed and recorded repertoire from classical, theatre, rock and contemporary music through to film, poetry, installation and sound. Her work can be found in journals, anthologies, galleries, venues and collecting institutions across Australia.
