Jacqui Maida - Improvisation Workshop: The Lettuce, The Book and The Lighting Desk

Event description

Three hours in duration, this event is an open workshop exploring Jacqui's current practice, titled: The Lettuce, The Book and the Lighting Desk.

These images represent elements of improvised manifestations, and look to provide a dancer with further autonomy within their live decision making. The Book involves the identification and labelling of any movement, state, texture or imaginary action. The Lighting Desk has to do with manipulating these newly named ideas, whilst the Lettuce is an image for the duration or lifetime of the chosen movement - constantly unfolding and exposing the next idea.

The session will include a mix of led improvised explorations, peer discussions, and written reflection time.
