Jae Truesdell: Out of the Shadows
Event description
Jae Truesdell’s solo jazz debut at The Back Room will be an evening of expressive, emotionally resonant vocal artistry, highlighting their three-octave range and jazz chops. This show blends beloved standards with personal storytelling—inviting the audience on a journey marked by suffering, resilience, love, joy and hope.
Jae Truesdell (they/them) brings together a combo of Bay Area jazz musicians for a program featuring a selection of songs thoughtfully curated to reflect Jae’s own recovery journey. The show's emotional landscape covers terrain from hopelessness to hope. The audience can expect an arc that moves from ballads of longing through uptempo celebrations of joy, weaving themes of mental health and recovery throughout, performed with ferocity and finesse.
Tickets are $28 in advance, $32 at the door general admission; $18 for students with ID/low-income individuals. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.
Doors open 30 minutes before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
