James and the Giant Peach, based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl and adapted for the stage by Richard George, is a whimsical and heartwarming tale that follows young James, an orphaned Cranbrook boy living in Sydney. After a series of unfortunate events, James leaves Cranbrook to be in the care of his two dreadful aunts, Spiker and Sponge who live in England. James encounters a mysterious old man who gives him magical green beans that change his life forever.
Soon, a giant peach begins to grow in Sponge and Spiker’s backyard, and with it, a cast of unlikely insect friends — including a wise Grasshopper, a polite Gentleman bug, a resourceful Spider, careful Earthworm, a pest of Centipede, a useful Firefly and a sleepy Silkworm. Together, they embark on an extraordinary journey across land, sea and sky, with the peach as their vessel and friendship as their compass. James learns the true meaning of courage, imagination, and belonging.
