Join us for a special one-night-only performance as internationally acclaimed Australian bass-baritone James Young returns home for an evening of unforgettable music.
An Opera Scholars Australia Alumnus, James is rapidly building a distinguished international career. Winner of the 2023 German-Australian Opera Grant, he has just completed his first professional season at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, with roles including Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Sparck (Fantasio), and Sciarrone (Tosca). In 2026, he will join the Theater Heidelberg ensemble, performing major roles such as Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier), and Dancaïro (Carmen).
James will perform alongside fellow Opera Scholars Australia Alumni — and 2025 finalists in the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and the Herald Sun Aria — Breanna Stuart (soprano) and Asher Reichman (tenor). They will be accompanied by Julian Wade at the piano.
Together they will present a program featuring great opera hits, beloved musicals, and timeless ballads — including works by Mozart, Bizet, Donizetti, Verdi, Britten, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Gilbert & Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and more.
This is a rare opportunity to experience some of Australia’s most exciting young singers in the intimate and atmospheric Abbotsford Convent.
🎟️ Tickets are limited – once capacity is reached, the performance will be sold out.
