Event description

Jamie Hutchings returns to Perth for his first headline solo show in more than five years! Armed with over 25 years of releases, Hutchings will draw from all eras, interpreting his songs at their most stripped back.

This also serves as a launch for Hutchings new, and sixth solo album, A New. Released on October 13th on limited LP and CD, A New sees Hutchings handling drums, bass, guitars, percussion and vocals, giving it uniquely homespun bent.

Of the album, Jamie says: ‘Stylistically, I would say much of this record has an almost 'Garage Bacharach' leaning. If that makes sense. There's a lushness and ornateness, and it's not without ambition. But owing to me playing much of it myself and mixing it at home, there's a certain charming scuzziness there as well.’

Hutchings first came to the music listening public’s attention in the mid ’90s as the founding member of Bluebottle Kiss. Described by All Music as 'challenging, rugged, dramatic rock with folk tendencies woven intricately into its coarse fabric’, the group forged a strong cult following over the course of six albums. He has since released a number of solo albums, known for their spare and strong narrative pull, as well as three albums with avant rock quartet Infinity Broke.

This is a rare trip west for Hutchings, and with The Vinyl Cafe being limited capacity, presales are strongly advised.
