Event description

We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Jan Brett to Fabled as she promotes her newest book, The Christmas Sweater! She will be joining us for a 20-30 minute drawing demonstration and presentation, followed by a book signing, on Thursday, December 11th at 10AM.

About the Event:

  • Customers must have purchased a ticket to the event, which includes a copy of The Christmas Sweater to join the signing line. We will have extra copies of The Christmas Sweater and select backlist on-sale at the event.

  • Arrive early! The first 100 families in line will receive a free signed Jan Brett poster.

  • Jan will do her very best to sign all of the books that time permits. The number of books that Jan can sign per family depends on how many people come to the signing. If time does not permit Jan to sign every book, we will have special signed bookplates featuring Jan’s full-color artwork for all of the extra books.

Tickets:

  • $25 - General Admission + Book

  • $5 - Kids Admission ( must be accompanied by an adult with a General Admission Ticket)

Tour Bus:

  • Jan’s tour bus will be parked in the alleyway right next to the Fabled entrance and mural starting at 9AM. It’s wrapped in artwork from The Christmas Sweater. You’re welcome to take a photo next to the bus!

Meet Hedgie:

  • Hedgie, Jan’s favorite friend from The Mitten and The Hat, will be visiting as well. Please bring the kids to have a photo taken with Hedgie.

FAQ's:

1) Can I bring books from home for Jan Brett to sign?

  • Usually the expected attendance at events does not allow for books from home to be signed. However, we are happy to provide as many signed bookplates as you need, while supplies last.

2) Can I have multiple copies of The Christmas Sweater signed at my turn in line?

  • Crowd size dictates how many books can be signed per guest. Often this only allows one book per guest, however, we encourage you to make strategic signing line plans with friends. Of course, we have signed bookplates for the rest of your purchases, while supplies last.

3) How can I get a good spot in the signing line?

  • When you pick-up your pre-purchased book at the event, we will give you a Group Number card for the signing line. Numbers will be given out based on the order in which guests arrive on the day of the event, not in the order which they were purchased online.

4) I can’t wait for two hours! What do I do?

  • We have beautifully designed signed Jan Brett bookplates for anyone not able to join the line.

5) Can I order a book to be signed even if I don’t attend the event?

  • Crowd size will determine whether there’s time for Jan to sign pre-ordered books for customers who cannot attend. If we run out of time, we promise to give as many beautiful signed bookplates as you need for your order.

About the Book:

A new Christmas classic from Jan Brett with an adventurous boy and an adorable pug in a Christmas sweater who saves the day!

Yiayia is thrilled with the fantastically adorned Christmas sweater she made for her grandson’s dog, Ariadne. Her grandson Theo loves it too, but he can tell Ari does not feel the same way. Luckily, Theo knows exactly what will show her just how cozy and warm the sweater is—a hike to Echo Lake. And he can wear his new snowshoes!

The woods are a winter wonderland, and more snow swirls as they hike. But just when they reach the lake, Theo realizes Ari’s sweater has disappeared, along with their tracks and every familiar landmark. Could they have lost Yiayia’s gift and the way home?

Luckily, Ari spots something in the snow that turns out to be a surprising solution to their predicament. And when they get home, they find an even bigger surprise from that amazing Christmas sweater.

Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, Jan Brett’s story of the bond between boy and dog radiates warmth and charm, while her signature border details hint at a final Christmas miracle sure to wow any crowd.
