Japanese Calligraphy Workshop
Event description
Japanese calligraphy is a direct expression of the soul of the artist. Let's explore the relationship between the soul, the meaning of Japanese letter itself and sumi (ink) together!
Maiko Howell was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and began doing calligraphy at age 5 under the guidance of her mother - also a calligrapher. In 2009 she moved to New York, USA to work for About Glamour Inc. but her marriage to her Tasmanian husband and the birth of her eldest daughter brought her back to Japanese calligraphy. She became a master of Japanese traditional calligraphy in 2017 and has held workshops throughout Eastern Japan. This is her first workshop in Australia.
