Japanese Calligraphy Workshop with Maiko Howell

Learn the art of Japanese Calligraphy with Maiko Howell.
Maiko Howell was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and began studying calligraphy at age 5 under the guidance of her mother – also a calligrapher.
Maiko became a master of Japanese traditional calligraphy in 2017 and has held workshops throughout Eastern Japan and now lives in Kingborough and teaches Japanese calligraphy as an art and all aspect of Japanese culture.
In the workshop participants will be able to write their ambitions or prayers for the new year with a brush and sumi ink, following the Japanese New Year's writing ritual called Kakizome.
This workshop is part of the 'Kingborough Together' project and is supported by the Tasmanian Government.
