Japanese Stab Book Binding with Anther
Description
Japanese stab binding is an elegant and simple way of binding your own books without needing glue or signatures. It adds an elegant handmade touch to binding documents like zines, scripts, printed short stories, or binding together loose pieces of art you might have lying around.
This 1h class will be about learning a Japanese stab binding technique for binding books and documents. To minimise cost and waste, we will be using plain printer paper to make an A5 booklet. If you already have your own A5 sized papers, documents or artworks you'd like to bind, you may bring up to 10 sheets of them along.
With the skills you learn and resources you gain, you can transfer them to bind larger books and documents of your choosing at home.
What will we cover?
You'll learn:
- marking and creating sewing stations on your book
- step by step diagrams on where to loop the needle and thread
