Jason Khaw Trio

Sponsorship recipient of the Troubadour Foundation, a grassroots foundation that recognises and supports emerging Australian folk musicians.

Jason Khaw (acoustic guitar and vocals) with Phil Sheppard (viola / acoustic bass) and Nilay Thakkar (tabla) will perform Jason's original songs and a couple of covers. Jason Khaw has released 2 albums in the last 3 years and is now recording his third album. His music can be described as a mix of folk, blues, jazz and world music. His shows are often a blend of music and story-telling. Phil Sheppard, a classically trained violinist and accomplished bassist is Jason's musical collaborator and has played on his second album, Peace River. Nilay Thakkar is a talented exponent of the tabla and teaches at the Melbourne Tabla School. Together, they will perform an exciting mix of sounds that you probably don't hear very often.
