Event description

Jazz at Fat Eddie's presented by Katie Jane Events

Bill Martin Septet - Saturday 25 March 6pm

Dunedin based pianist Bill Martin performs his original compositions from the album Over to You plus new material with a four piece horn section. Featuring some of the South Island's best jazz instrumentalists, the line-up features Ralph Miller on trumpet, Nick Cornish on alto saxophone, Gwyn Reynolds on tenor saxophone and rising star Finn McKinlay on trombone. The arrangements and grooves reflect the unique vision of band leader Bill Martin but register the influences of Keith Jarret, Chick Corea, Miles Davis and Snarky Puppy, which are revealed through the complex interactions between drummer Carl Woodward, bassist Andy Lynch and Bill Martin himself on the keys.

Band:

Bill Martin - Keys

Ralph Miller - Trumpet

Nick Cornish - Alto Saxophone

Gwyn Reynolds - Tenor Saxophone

Finn McKinlay - Trombone

Carl Woodward - Drums

Andy Lynch - Bass
