    Event description

    Doors open at 2:30pm.

It’s time for something new and old, all at once! David Rastrick and Jazztrix Quartet will be partnering with Six Degrees to pilot the first of what will hopefully become a monthly Jazz Sunday Session.

Jazz Sunday sessions are an institution in cities around the globe. Musicians get together to play classic jazz, and to jam. New musicians get to jump up on some tunes and build their network. Audiences get to enjoy favourite tunes and new, in a fun, friendly social environment dedicated to both listening and dancing.

If you’re a budding jazz musician and/or vocalist, get in touch to do some tunes with the band. Amongst a mix of jazz styles, the band will be playing a large proportion of swing tunes, so Swing Dancers will enjoy the afternoon too. What’s best, is the event is fairly early in the afternoon, so you can get home early to prepare for your week ahead, or stay on afterwards to enjoy a tasty meal at Six Degrees.

The event is organised by David Rastrick and Jazztrix Quartet, and hosted in the Goldroom at Six Degrees. As well as any special guests, you’ll hear the expressive trumpet and vocals of David Rastrick, the delightful jazz guitar of Ross Dwyer, the steady upright bass of Grant Moulden and the patter of percussion from Lauchie Gillett. The quartet plays a rebate of jazz styles including New Orleans traditional jazz and blues, Bossa Nova, Latin, Soul-Jazz, jazz blues, jazz ballads and plenty of Swing!

If the pilot event goes well, we’ll look at running it on a monthly basis. We’re running it as a ticketed event so it becomes self-sustaining. Please come along to enjoy the music from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday 3rd of December, in the Goldroom at Six Degrees. Tickets are $20 full price, $15 concession, and under-18 free.
