Hear short talks from leading local experts Jo French (Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Women’s and Children’s Hospital Adelaide), Sheree Reeves (Medication Safety Project Coordinator at Lyell McEwin Hospital) and Dr Lucylynn Lizarondo (Research Fellow at JBI/Adelaide University) followed by a panel discussion hosted by Dr Kylie Porritt.  

The JBI gLocal Solution Room is a free event – occurring in June across 20+ countries globally – which aims to provide pragmatic solutions to challenges in getting evidence into practice in local settings. 

In strengthening the local use of global evidence, the JBI gLocal Solution Room is designed to bring together clinicians, academics and policy makers interested in evidence-based healthcare, and serve as a synchronised, collaborative and widely accessible inter-regional space to promote evidence-based practice discussion and debate.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

KEYNOTE

Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite

PhD, FIML, FCHSM, FFPHRCP, FAcSS, Hon FRACMA, FAHMS

Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite is a leading health services and systems researcher recognised internationally for his contributions to improving healthcare systems. He holds visiting or adjunct appointments at Newcastle University and the University of Birmingham (UK); the University of Southern Denmark; the University of Stavanger, Norway; and the University of New South Wales; and he is an Honorary Senior International Research Fellow at the Canon Institute for Global Studies in Tokyo, Japan. He currently Chairs the International Society for Quality in Health Care’s (ISQua’s) Academy and previously served as ISQua President from 2020 to 2024. His research focuses on healthcare culture and structure, leadership and management in health organisations, quality and safety, accreditation, and health system reform. He has published extensively, with over 1,550 publications, and has delivered more than 1,610 conference presentations, including over 164 keynote addresses. Professor Braithwaite has developed influential ideas such as boundary-less hospitals, clinician-managers as reform leaders, and culture change as a sustainable reform strategy. His work bridges organisational studies, health services research, and clinical care. By 2025, he had secured over $236 million in career research funding and continues to contribute widely to international research and policy discussions.

Jo French

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Women’s and Children’s Hospital Adelaide

Jo has worked at WCH in Neonatal Services for more than 28 years. She is a strong advocate for using evidence-based knowledge to develop patient pathways that enhance the outcomes for the vulnerable cohort of preterm and sick newborn infants across Neonatal Services. Jo has been part of a partnership with JBI and a team of WCH Neonatal Services staff to critique current practice against the best evidence-based practice models. The team have implemented a practice pathway that aims to optimise newborn nutritional intake in the first week of life, Jo will share the experience of collaborating with JBI and the challenges faced. 

Sheree Reeves

Medication Safety Project Coordinator, Nurse Educator at the Research and Practice Development Department
Lyell McEwin Hospital

Sheree has over 35 years’ experience in paediatric nursing. For the past 9 years she has supported nursing practice as the paediatric nurse educator working within the Nursing and Midwifery Education, Research and Practice Development Department at NALHN. Sheree has dedicated her career to advocacy of consumers in the health service and a genuine commitment to person-centred and compassionate care, which deeply informs her approach to practice, education and leadership.

This passion has fuelled her dedication as the lead for the Safe Medication Administration research project being undertaken across 8 clinical units at NALHN in collaboration with JBI.

Dr LucyLynn Lizarondo
Research Fellow, JBI/ Adelaide University

Lucy is a health service researcher focused on improving the quality and safety of healthcare. Her work centres on bridging the gap between evidence and practice by designing practical approaches that support the uptake of evidence in real-world settings. At JBI, Lucy contributes to advancing implementation methodologies, including the development of tools, frameworks and structured approaches that guide clinicians and organisations in embedding evidence into routine care. She is particularly interested in translating evidence into actionable strategies that drive meaningful and sustainable change across health systems. Lucy also works closely with health services, policymakers and international partners to co-design and evaluate implementation initiatives, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and building capacity for evidence-based practice.
