Event description

You are invited to the opening of three exhibitions as part of our Kambarang Season at John Curtin Gallery.

Colourful, and brimming with shapes that sway, teeter and slump, Fantastic Forms celebrates the endless creativity of the human imagination through drawing, ceramics, sculpture and animation.

Curated by Sophie O’Brien, the exhibition includes new large-scale sculptures by Nabilah Nordin, exquisite ceramic figures by Stephen Benwell and stop-motion videos by emerging Bundjalung artist Rubyrose Bancroft.

Attuning to the sensual, plastic qualities of clay, along with the development of ceramics as both functional objects, and symbols of power and privilege, Dirt Feeling explores diverse ceramic practices within Australia and beyond.

Curated by Lia McKnight, this exhibition showcases the work of nearly 70 artists including Glenn Barkley, Pippin Drysdale, Josina Pumani and Angela Valamanesh.

Highlighting artworks by Curtin alumni, Everyday, Myths and Legends showcases stories, experiences, and insights into imagined and real worlds.

Curated by Susanna Castleden, combining recent and historical acquisitions this exhibition is an exposé into the rich diversity of the Curtin University Art Collection.

Light refreshments provided.

Exhibitions run from 3 October to 7 December 2025.

The Gallery’s public opening hours during exhibitions are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. Closed Saturdays and Public Holidays.

Registration is essential. For more information, please visit our website: https://www.curtin.edu.au/jcg/
