Event description

In 2017, Jelena Dokic made international headlines with the release of her bestselling memoir, Unbreakable. Years of shocking abuse at the hands of her father – physical, emotional and financial – were revealed by the former tennis World No. 4.

Fearless, Jelena’s second book, shares the impact her formative years have had on her, and her refusal to be defined by her trauma – she is determined to grow, be stronger and wiser because of it, and wants to help others who may also be suffering. Not only did she escape a war, lived as a refugee — twice — was subject to bullying, and suffer immense abuse at the hands of her father, she did so while training to be a tennis champion. Jelena suffered in silence for years, and it wasn’t until Unbreakable was released that she was able to unburden her secrets.

Fearless is about reclaiming life and the power of sharing our stories. It is about having the strength to stand up for what you believe in, and being strong enough to ask for help when it is needed. Fearless is about starting at the bottom and building yourself back up and getting through the devastating moments in life. The past years have taught Jelena Dokic many tough and important lessons, and now she is ready to share them to help others find their voice and the power to thrive.

This event will include an in-conversation between Jelena Dokic and Warren Brown, audience Q&A, and book signings with The Yass Book Store as well as wine and nibbles after the talk.
