Jenin Jenin Screening
Event description
This spring from the 28th of August to the 2nd of October we will be screening a series of excellent Palestinian films, old and new, every week at two/fiftyseven on Willis Street, with ticket sales going to the Gazan mutual aid group The Sameer Project.
The Sameer Project is an on-the-ground aid organisation organised by Palestinians in the diaspora, which crowdfunds in order to provide tents, medical care and direct cash aid to those most affected in Gaza. They can be found on Instagram at @thesameerproject.
More information:
Jenin Jenin includes testimony from Jenin residents after the Israeli army’s Defensive Shield operation, during which the city and camp were the scenes of fierce fighting. The operation ended with Jenin flattened and scores of Palestinians killed. Palestinians as well as numerous human rights groups accused Israel of committing war crimes in the April 2002 attack on the refugee camp. The sad question forces itself on the spectator: What will become of a country, a people when its children are confronted with war and violence from a very early age?
