About the Artist

Filipino-American actor-musician Jeremy Rafal returns to Edinburgh following the successful run of his solo theatre-and-music work, The Boy from Bantay, at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where he received the Asian Arts Award for Outstanding Male Performer. As a pianist, he has performed throughout the United States and internationally in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Italy, and Russia. He is a prizewinner of the Shostakovich International Piano Competition, the Brevard Piano Competition, and the Kankakee Piano Competition. Jeremy holds a Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

The Night Has Many Voices is a musical journey through darkness, memory, solitude, folklore, and celebration. The program features Chopin’s Nocturne in C minor and Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Bartók’s Out of Doors, and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, woven together with Jeremy’s new piano miniatures inspired by Ilocano proverbs.
