Jesse Redwing grew up on punk, found inspiration in the likes of Peter Green, John Mayall, Eric Burdon, Eric Clapton and the Stones, then took a step back to "the real shit": Chess Records, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Buddy Guy and Willie Dixon.
Jesse was told by a street vendor in San Francisco that he must have been reincarnated from John Lee Hooker. A lot of fellas can play the guitar, quite a few can sing, but how many really feel it deep down in the well? Redwing has dedicated his life to reaching that source we all have and can all relate to.
"I wasn’t born to the blues, but it found me somehow and now there’s no turning back," he says. 2016 was a big year for Redwing, signing a worldwide publishing deal with Big Deal/Mushroom Music and having his song Crawlin Up The Walls featured in hit Netflix series "Shooter".
Redwing's real, raw, punk-tinged blues is a live experience to behold, and producer Stephen Mowat has proved himself capable of capturing their explosive energy on tape.Studio recordings have so far come in the form of high energy singles Comin' On and Crawlin' Up The Walls & Round It Goes - the latter recently launched at a packed Brighton Up Bar - and there's a full-length album set to see the light in early 2017.
A blues revival looks well-and-truly ready to kick off, and Redwing might just be the man to lead the congregation. Hallelujah.
