JESSICA LUXX
Adelaide-based country/folk singer-songwriter, Jessica Luxx, has been growing a loyal following over the past few years. She is known for her generous and memorable live shows and has become somewhat of a darling of the local Americana scene. This culminated in the release of her debut single Heavy Lifting last year. The song's themes of uncertainty and loss resonated deeply with many people post-Covid, and it's still a favourite on community radio and playlists. The arrival of her new single, The Temple, marks an evolution of Luxx’s soulful country flavoured 60’s dream pop, and sees her exploring darker, more ethereal territory both lyrically and sonically. As Jessica explains, “It’s a song about breaking the rules, living a life free from the restraints we put on ourselves. It’s a call to let go and embrace the flow of the earth. To give in to softness and sensuality and rise above the chaos.”
Her all-star band, featuring Tom Kneebone, guitar (The Audreys, Max Savage, Alana Jagt), Jamie Harrison, bass (John Schumann), Robin Bushell, violin (Pocket String Quartet, Goanna), Travis Demsey, drums (The Living End) and guest Paul Cooper, banjo (Axe & Ivory, The Cherry Pickers), rise to the occasion delivering the right balance of atmospheric and rhythmic intensity.
Local producer extraordinaire, Ryan Martin John (Nancy Bates, Tom West, Seabass, Alana Jagt, Max Savage), has subtly built layers within layers giving the song it’s other-worldliness, whilst maintaining Luxx’s trademark vulnerability and earthiness. The verses are sultry and mysterious and the chorus is undeniable, with all the makings of a classic alt-country anthem.
The Temple is a journey through soulful contemplation that is bound to keep existing disciples satisfied as well as enticing new converts a plenty.
“Take no prisoners to the Temple!”
BABY MO
Erin Baby Mo is an Adelaide-based solo artist who has written and performed music for several years. Between 2022 and 2023, she has taken strides to record her original music whilst collaborating with various local artists, and joining Wait & See Records. Her works are inspired by current pop artists such as Lana Del Rey and Frank Ocean. With three new tracks to be released this summer, Baby Mo hopes to achieve and create a musical style reminiscent of 1970’s love ballads combined with modern folk and indie sounds.
