Double Bill: Sumire Kuribayashi & Niran Dasika + Matt Ottignon Quartet
Event description
An immersive double bill of sensitive and sophisticated improvised music.
Sumire Kuribayashi & Niran Dasika
International collaborators, trumpeter Niran Dasika and Japanese pianist Sumire Kuribayashi reunite in a concert of lyrical, minimalist compositions and improvisations. ‘Kiri’ is a suite of music inspired by the paintings of Kaii Higashiyama, which capture the ethereal beauty, drama and pathos of Japanʼs natural landscapes and seasonal change. Dasikaʼs distinctive, ethereal trumpet and virtuosic lyricism, paired with Kuribayashiʼs unique and dynamic touch on the piano will result in a unique, and sensitive performance that is not to be missed. Matt Ottignon Quartet
Matthew Ottignon premieres a new set of music, composed specifically for his latest project. The renowned saxophonist is thrilled to present this stellar never-heard-before quartet. This will be a delicate improvised performance - uncontrolled, unpredictable and generous in space for the four sophisticated musicians on stage.
