OCEAN LOVERS TALKS - JEWELS OF THE SOUTHERN OCEAN

Join Tim Jarvis AM to hear about his work on the campaigns to protect Australia’s subantarctic islands and lessons learnt from his multiple journeys.

Tim Jarvis MSc, MEnvLaw is an environmental scientist, adventurer, author, public speaker and film-maker with more than 30 years experience working in the sustainability field. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) 2010 for services to the environment, community and exploration and is Australian of the Year 2024 for South Australia. Tim is committed to finding pragmatic solutions to major environmental issues related to climate change and biodiversity loss and uses his public speaking engagements, films and books to progress thinking in these areas.

Tim has been working with Save Our Marine Life for five years, campaigning for the creation of a one-million-square-kilometre East Antarctic Marine Park, adjacent to Australia’s land-based Antarctic territory. More recently, as our Ambassador, he’s been instrumental in helping to almost triple the size of  Macquarie Island Marine Park – to a whopping 475,465 square kilometres – declared by Minister Plibersek in July 2023!
