Rachel Greene and Jhana Allan at Boobooks
Event description
Join good friends and musical partners in crime, Rachel and Jhana for a special and intimate show at Boobooks.
Aoteorea-born singer songwriter Rachel Greene possesses a quiet power and presence. With emotional maturity decades beyond her years, she taps into themes of resilience, despair and hope, with impossibly sweet vocals, and gorgeous accompaniment on keys and baritone ukulele. Rachel's songwriting is unflinchingly brave and honest, a true warrior in every sense of the word. An emerging artist to watch.
Jhana is that rare combination of a musician who has a deep understanding of roots music and yet brings an entirely original perspective with her songwriting, mandolin playing, and fearless arrangement ideas. While her debut album Darkest Night shows her ability to live comfortably in the neo-traditional bluegrass world, her new EP Passing Shadow pushes those elements even further towards her own, completely compelling sound; rooted in her own experience, and reflective of the contemporary folk, rock sounds of Australia. Recently returned from recording her sophomore album in Nashville, Tennessee, 2023 is promising to be a fruitful year.
