Event description

Uralla-based singer-songwriter Jhana Allan will be launching her EP Passing Shadow, accompanied by Nick Mclean on bass, guitar and backing vocals. She is supported by Canberra-based singer-songwriter Kim Yang. Join us for a very special and intimate night.

Jhana is that rare combination of a musician who has a deep understanding of roots music and yet brings an entirely original perspective with her songwriting, mandolin playing, and fearless arrangement ideas. While her album Darkest Night shows her ability to live comfortably in the neo-traditional bluegrass world, her new EP Passing Shadow pushes those elements even further towards her own, completely compelling sound; rooted in her own experience, and reflective of the contemporary folk and rock sounds of Australia.

Indie folk singer-songwriter Kim Yang writes songs that speak from her experiences as a partner, a daughter, a traveller and an insecure soul. Her ethereal blend of sounds balances delicately between vulnerability and power.
Between 2019 and 2022, Kim went on tour for her EP releases and sold out shows at festivals, (National Folk Festival 2019 & 2022, Good Folk 2021, Enlighten). She also performed alongside APRA and ARIA awarded artists such as Kate Ceberano, Katie Noonan, Fanny Lumsden, Stiff Gins, Josh Pyke and Ben Lee. Her releases receive regular air plays on national and community radio stations around Australia.
