Inner Westies Supporting Gazan Families in Need brings you the JIG for GAZA!

A night of Scottish and Palestinian music and dance.

Headlining the JIG for GAZA will be our ceilidh sessions featuring Australia’s very own top-notch dance caller, Graeme McColgan. A Glaswegian by birth, Graeme has been calling jigs for over 20 years. 

Whether you’re an expert at Stripping the Willow and the Eightsome Reel or coming to the joy and energy of Scottish dancing for the first time, the JIG for GAZA will get your toes tapping and in no time, under Graeme’s expert guidance, you will be tripping the light fantastic.

We are also delighted to showcase Palestinian Dabke dance troupe, Dahnoon. Founded by four Palestinian women united in their love for traditional Dabke dancing, their performances bring to life the story of Palestine – one powerful stomp at a time. As they say, Dabke is more than a dance – it is a promise to keep a culture alive.

IMPORTANT

Ceilidh dancing requires a lot of space! And we anticipate that we'll have more JIGsters than space on the dance floor. To keep everything safe and enjoyable for all - we'll have several ceilidh (dance) sessions during the night so everyone can enjoy the twirling and whirling fun. Please take direction from our friendly dance crew and don't worry if the floor is full - there'll be another ceilidh session along soon!
