Jimmy Nuttall presents: Satdee Night + Cococonstance
Event description
Join Jimmy in presenting Gillian Armstrong's classic gay movie Satdee Night (1973) alongside his new work Cococonstance.
Cococonstance by auteur Jimmy Nuttall forces us to ask: could you possibly know this work is a single-channel HD video, with the dimensions of 1620×1080/16:9, that runs at 15.46 minutes made by Naarm’s gayest? Performed by a noteworthy cast that includes born-star Eugene Choi, poster boy of Melbourne dance world Geoffrey Watson, upcoming starlet Oliver Savariego, and leading man Mick Klepner-Roe, Coco manifests experimental expressions such as ‘blah blah blah’. Daniel Jenastch’s score is unparalleled. Commissioned by EO Gill and the National Art School.
Satdee Night, Gillian Armstrong
A short observational account of one Saturday night in the mundane life of Stuart. He gets drunk, goes out to clubs, searches for love and falls asleep unfulfilled on the club's floor. Made at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 1973, Gillian's film survived and been disseminated for years almost exclusively through the BentTV archive on youtube. Come watch it in all it's tragic gay glory, on the last Satdee Night of the festival.
