Jive @ The Hive to celebrate Winter Solstice! bringing an afternoon of Jazz & Blues - Grunge Rock - Country/Americana!

This line up came to life to support International Women's Day but due to COVID and WET WEATHER it has now moved to 18 June where we will be dancing around the fire pits and keeping warm with great music and good times.

Divine Devilles

Singer/songwriters/musicians, Ali Penney and Dorothy-Jane, come together as Divine Devilles.

Two well-travelled souls, each with a swag of awards, a suitcase full of songs, hearts on their sleeves and a love of that sweet, swinging, shuffling, grooving place where Blues and Jazz meet.

Since 2013 this powerhouse duo have entertained audiences across Australasia with their award-winning vocals, keys and blues-harp and songs that draw on their lived experiences, plus bags of cheek, charm and pizazz!

Mighty Blues guitarist, Dave Blanken will join in the fun for this fab event.

Matriarch...

is a grunge rock band with a bit of a twist – four ‘mature’ women over the age of 50 who write and play loud, original and sometimes political music. Hey, by the time you’ve reached your sixth decade on the planet you’ve got a bit of stuff to get off your chest!

Culprits are Lorena Quinlivan on vocals/guitar, Glenda Harvey on guitar/vocals, Lee Grunwald on bass and Leanne Thompson on drums.

After a jaw dropping debut in early 2020, Matriarch cracked on through the pandemic songwriting, recording and gigging whenever they could. Testament to their love of music, within 12 months the band had headlined an International Women’s Day event, tore up the Moshpit in Sydney and warmed up the March4Justice National Rally at Parliament House.

What She’s Having

Bridget Croft and Jenny Spear hail from the Canberra and southern NSW region of Australia. Growing up in musical families, they began singing and playing music from a young age.

Enamoured with old school country and 70's rock, the duo is heavily influenced by the the lyrical songwriting of Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Townes Van Zandt.

Formed distantly in the time and space of the horror year that was 2021, the duo began writing and recording in their own houses in separate states. As soon as the curtain was lifted, emerged with a collection of songs that they are in the process of recording in the same room.

Bridget and Jenny are well known in the Canberra music scene, playing with other outfits including Hidden Charms, Sunset Palominos and Vespertine Lounge, and formerly with Queen B and the Archers, Liam McKahey and the Bodies and the Black Horses.

What She’s Having channels their life experiences in their songs-there are cautionary tales, odes to heartache, tragedy, betrayal and getting the f%^(*ck out of a bad situation. Despite that, they believe in love and following their dreams- in the words of Dolly herself, vowing to never leave a rhinestone unturned.

The Queanbeyan Hive

Our music events are held in the grounds of the Heritage Listed Award-winning yellow cottage. The venue space is accessible with bathrooms inside the cottage.

There will be a licensed bar and food options will be available including gluten free & vegan options. Details will be emailed ASAP to ticket holders.

The performance space is outdoors so is dependant on fine weather. We will notify ticket holders if this event has to be cancelled and your tickets will be be refunded.
